Dreams Do Still Come True

Today I was not in Kennesaw or Acworth or Marietta; I was in Powder Springs and I had the most wonderful experience.

I was going over to tour a new subdivision that a builder friend of mine had told me about in the $160’s. I pulled in to look at them and drove to the back of the neighborhood where I saw a nice young woman and a couple kids unlocking a house. I pulled up and said, “Do you live here or perhaps you’re just looking?” She said, “It’s my house as of two hours ago” and I told her how happy I was for her and how great it was to own a home.

I asked if she would mind if I took a look. She was still fiddling with the lock and then tells me the key is stuck in the lock. I said, “Let me help; I’m a Realtor” and then I introduced myself.

We talked about master locks and how they are supposed to work once you use them. (This one was a little off, but I got it working and got her key out.) She took me through the house and told me it was their first home and how they had lived in apartments for years and that she picked the carpet because it didn’t look like anything in an apartment. She was showing her children their new home for the first time. She said she didn’t want to show them until they knew it was theirs so as not to disappoint them if it fell through. She was so happy over her house and with good reason. It was a great home and a fantastic buy for the money.

After twenty eight years in this business I was greatly impressed with the subdivision and the price they paid. But most of all, I loved seeing someone so happy buying their very first home. It made me so excited for her! It actually made my day. Ah, life still has a good side. Dreams do still come true.
