Joann Whitney
Buyer's Agent
The most popular question I am asked these days is, “How did you get into real estate?”
The truth is – I’ve always been in real estate one way or another!
I was an interior designer in the Buckhead and Cobb county area for over thirty years. (Believe it or not I am a native Atlantan.) I was especially proud that I had two different opportunities to have rooms in the most prestigious designer showhouse in the southeast, The Atlanta Decorators Showhouse.
My husband and I moved a total of eleven times over the years and many of those were houses we bought in great locations, moved in and renovated and then sold them after a year. During that time I got my real estate license and really specialized in finding great deals for my family and for others that were looking to buy the most for the smallest amount. However, the demands of my little children and my family life made being a full time real estate agent impossible for me. So I concentrated on interior design over the remaining years. When the children got older, we settled down in East Cobb, and enjoyed the area but I never stopped being a “House-a-holic”.
Now the children are grown and have families of their own. I realized I needed a fresh adventure. Real estate has been just that.
Now I use my design background to stage houses for people who really want to sell and are willing to pare down their homes so they will stand out in the marketplace.
I really enjoy this 2010 real estate market. It is a challenging time but one of the most exciting. There is nothing like the look in someone’s eyes when they find the home of their dreams. There are so relatively few houses offered by owners now. Many owners are afraid to sell their property. But we have found that a well staged, competitively priced home will sell with the right marketing approach. The bonus comes when we search for a new home. There are properties on the market that are fabulous, and often we can buy at a good price if we are patient and shop wisely.
I have found strategizing is important in all of our life. Often it is said “if we aim at nothing, we will get it.” Setting a goal and then wisely meeting objectives, leads to success and in real estate, to happy homeowners.
My message to you is that you can achieve your dreams and your objectives. I specialize in helping you strategize to reach your goal.
Whether you are buying or selling, It would be my pleasure to serve you.
